Description

Weekly reports on local activities done for the TRD-2D project of the CBM collaboration.

This week we will discuss the software topics related to the status, and milestones of the integration in the CbmRoot in view of data analysis of mCBM 2021 and simulations for mCBM 2022.

On the topic of prototype production (M. Petrovici)

Therefore I will list here the actions taking place up to now and a bit
of TBD for the next week:

 - the entrance window is ready, looks very nice, thanks to Lucica, Vali
and Andrei

 - shorts and connection tests were performed - thanks to Lucica, Vali,
George

 - Viorel is close to finalize a design of a mechanical structure which
will be used for such tests when we will start assembling the final
chambers, i.e. "production", although I do not like such a word because
the people not knowing what is behind could take it as a routine work or
considering us as producers of sum objects ordered by foreigners ...

 - its absorption will be measured today 
           - Viorel, please reassemble the mechanics
           - Daniel will do the measurement
 - deformation under 1mb pressure difference should start tomorrow 
           - assembling and tests - Andrei, Mariana, Mihai

 - grounding PCB, foreseen to be glued on the back side of the chamber
is unacceptable thick, sorry that I did not cross-checked this before
being submitted to the producer. Therefore we are on the way to replace
it by a much thinner layer - Andrei, Viorel, Mihai 

 - Mariana contacted the representative of the German company in Romania
which could deliver the proper araldite. Joerg also promissed to send a
couple of cans.

 - Viorel had a discussion with Necsoiu's collaborators on comb
production, they agreed upon a versatile solution, Viorel will design it
and than we start the formalities to be produced.
                 
 - Therefore, once the araldite will be in house we have to have
everything prepared to start the assembling of the "pad-plane"

 - Once the comb will be ready we have to start winding the anode and
cathode electrodes

 - and then assembling the chamber - the starting of this activity
depends on when the previous two items will be finalized

 - on the administrative segment, I'm pleased to inform you that
yesterday Adriana signed the contract and followed all the formalities
required by this. She has now to finish her exams and in a month from
now she will be be present in person in our Department. 

 - Concerning the discussions taking place yesterday related to the
debate on having or not TRD in between STS and ToF (I'm sorry not being
able to remain in the meeting until the end but I had an other one with
Norbert, Ingo and Sebastian concerning the gas recycling system for CBM
ToF):

  - It was not clear to me which were the exact 3 configurations used
for invariant mass reconstruction presented by the Czech colleague
  - If the S/N using only STS and ToF is reasonable, it is clear that
such a configuration has to be used being much simpler in all respects.
Of course, this depends also on the sub-threshold Lambda production
cross section 
  - If an intermediate tracking will increase this ratio significantly,
then it makes sens to increase the complexity in all respects
  - However, this needs  quite some work for many people and there are
about 4-5 month to converge. The decision could be taken not too much
before the production run because removing from the arrangement the
TRDs, if this will be decided, can be done in a couple of days.
