Description
he very different fields of isotope application in medicine require dedicated bio-chemical
and nuclear decay properties of the nuclides. Single Photon Computerized Scintigraphy (SPECT)
requires radionuclides emitting in the decay single photons, preferable with energy between 100
and 200 keV. The working horse in SPECT is 99mTc reliable available from 99Mo/99mTc-generators.
The overwhelming fraction of 99Mo is produced by fission in nuclear reactors. Other suitable
radionuclides for (SPECT) as 123I, 201Tl, 67Ga or 111In need to be produced using cyclotrons.
