During the coming years the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research
(FAIR) will be built at the GSI campus in Darmstadt, Germany.

FAIR is a large-scale accelerator and storage ring structure, which together with unique detector systems will allow forefront research in hadron, nuclear, atomic and plasma physics as well as in applied sciences. The talk will introduce this new international facility and highlight the many opportunities which FAIR offers for nuclear astrophysics bringing the Universe in the laboratory.
