About the JRC

The JRC: science for policy


The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the in-house scientific service of the European Commission. It aims to provide independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society.

There are JRC sites in Ispra (Italy), Karlsruhe (Germany), Geel (Belgium), Petten (Netherlands) and Sevilla (Spain), with the headquarters in Brussels (Belgium).

Unit G.6 (Nuclear data and Measurement Standards) is part of Directorate G (Nuclear Safety and Security) and is based in Geel. It manages a variety of nuclear infrastructure, including the  GELINA  and MONNET  accelerator facilities, as well as laboratories on radionuclide metrology, target preparation and ultra-low level gamma-ray spectrometry.
