The LNMRI/IRD participation in BIPM/CCRI Cd-109 Comparison
This article describes the Cd-109 standardization made by LNMRI/IRD in the for comparison exercise organized by the BIPM. In this work, the Cd-109 main difficulties in the standardization will be shown, the measurement were performed with a homemade cell for liquid scintillation.
By analyzing of preliminary results presented by the BIPM, was observed a good agreement between the arithmetic mean and the reference value obtained by the LNMRI /IRD better than 0.6%. The gamma emission probabilities were determined for 88 keV.
A Cd-109 solution supplied by a commercial supplier was calibrated against the activity of the comparison solution in order to establish metrological traceability. With this Cd-109 commercial solution and high activity, LNMRI/IRD calibrated its well-type ionization chambers with uncertainties less than 1.0 %.
