Description

The CYCLEUR workshop is an excellent opportunity for developing collaborations and networking among members of the European research cyclotrons community.

The 15th Workshop of the European Cyclotron Network (CYCLEUR) will take place in Bucharest (Romania) on 22–23 June 2023. After the last edition before the COVID-19 pandemic in Dresden (2019), this event will reassemble again major experts in the field of cyclotrons, radioisotope production, targets, and target chemistry. In recent years, significant advances have been made in these fields and novel instruments and methodologies have been developed with direct implications for science and society.

Ion Beams for Science, Education and Technology 20m

Accelerated ion beams can be regarded as a highly versatile multi-tool extremely useful to date artefacts, clean-up air, detect and remove tumours, sanitise sewage, improve microprocessors, transmute nuclear waste, detect a counterfeit, manufacture cutting-edge materials or even look into the stars.
The history of particle accelerators at the "Horia Hulubei" National Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering - IFIN-HH started in '50s with the installation of a U-120 cyclotron, followed by the commissioning of the 7.5 MV FN Tandem machine in 1973.
Nowadays we proudly operate 3 electrostatic accelerators and a TR-19 cyclotron that are equipped to tackle a broad range of applications, but also for fundamental research.

Current status on the U-120M cyclotron 20m

During almost half a century of operation, the U-120M cyclotron has undergone a number of upgrades and improvements that have enabled the development and production of the most common radiopharmaceuticals on a daily basis. The transfer of routine production to the dedicated TR-24 cyclotron enabled a long-term shutdown and major improvement of the U-120M cyclotron. In addition to the progress in beam extraction, the results achieved in the development of pulsed beams, neutron sources and target technologies will be presented.

      52Mn and 165Er production, last developments 20m

At Orleans, proton and alpha production of 52Mn will be presented . Separation of 52Mn from V 52Mn (proton beam was done and AMA has been established (results on progress).
Relative to 165Er, some parameters have a crucial impact on AMA value. Its production is one. The radiochemical separation is another. In order to improve the separation factor between Ho and Er, mesoporous carbon support have been tested and compared with Triskem resin. Behaviors of resin are different ever functionalized with same molecules.
